Commercial Sewer Services for Businesses and Property Managers
We offer commercial sewer services to the great business owners and property managers here in Rolling Meadows and many of the surrounding areas! The sewer line is one of the most important parts of any commercial building, as every toilet, sink, and drain in the building depends on it to carry waste out to the village's main line. When that line backs up, it's not something that can wait, and that's why we're available 24/7 to help. Whether you need a camera inspection, sewer rodding, hydro jetting, a sewer line repair, or a brand new sewer line, feel free to give us a call at any time and we'll be happy to help!
Why Commercial Sewer Lines Have More Problems
A commercial sewer line has to handle a lot more than a residential sewer line. In a lot of commercial buildings, one sewer line is carrying waste from every unit, bathroom, and kitchen in the entire building, and with that much going through one line every day, problems are bound to come over time. Here are some of the most common sewer issues we see in commercial buildings:
Grease Buildup
Restaurants and buildings with kitchens deal with grease going down their drains every day. Grease hardens as it cools down, and over time, it builds up on the inside of the sewer line until the line can't drain properly anymore.
Things Being Flushed That Shouldn't Be
In public bathrooms, things like paper towels and wipes end up getting flushed, and these don't break down like toilet paper does.
Tree Roots
Just like in homes, tree roots can find their way into commercial sewer lines through cracks and joints, especially in older buildings.
Older Pipes
A lot of commercial buildings in the Northwest Suburbs were built decades ago, and the sewer lines in those buildings have had to deal with years of ground shifting, freeze-thaw cycles, and heavy use.
Signs Your Commercial Sewer Line Needs Attention
Multiple Drains Backing Up at Once
If more than one drain in the building is slow or backing up at the same time, this most likely means the problem is in the main sewer line and not just one drain.
Sewage Odor
A sewage smell coming from drains, the basement, or around the outside of the building usually means there is some sort of issue with the sewer line, and since it can be a health hazard, it should be checked out right away.
Gurgling Toilets and Drains
If toilets are gurgling when other sinks or toilets in the building are being used, there could be a blockage somewhere in the line.
Wet or Sunken Spots Outside
Wet spots or areas where the ground is sinking above where your sewer line runs could mean the pipe is cracked or broken underground.
How We Fix Commercial Sewer Problems
Not every sewer problem means the line needs to be replaced, sometimes it just needs a professional to come out and take a look. Before starting any work, we always find out exactly what's going on and give you a clear diagnosis. Here are some of the most common services we perform on commercial sewer lines:
Camera Inspection
We run a camera down your sewer line to see what's causing the issue and where it's located, so we know exactly what needs to be fixed before recommending anything.
Sewer Rodding
This sends a cable with a cutting head down the line to cut through clogs and tree roots. This is usually the first step when a sewer line is backed up.
Hydro Jetting
Uses high-pressure water to clean the inside walls of the sewer line. This is the best option for grease buildup, as a cable is able to cut a hole through the grease but won't clean it off the walls of the pipe, which means the clog will most likely come back.
Sewer Line Repair
If the camera inspection shows a section of pipe that's cracked, broken, or collapsed, we will repair that section if possible. If there's damage all throughout the line, replacing the full line usually makes the most sense.
Clean-Out Installation
A clean-out gives us access to your sewer line without needing to dig. If your building doesn't already have one, we can install one, which helps reduce costs for future repairs.
New Sewer Installation
If your building needs a brand new sewer line, we will handle the entire installation from start to finish, including permits and excavation.
Preventing Sewer Backups at Your Property
We recommend having your commercial sewer line inspected at least once per year to ensure it's working properly and there are no foreseeable issues. If your building has a restaurant or plenty of tenants, it may also be worth having your line cleaned on a regular basis, as grease and other buildup can pile up quickly when that many people are using the same line. A camera inspection can catch issues like roots or buildup early, which is normally a lot cheaper than dealing with a full backup in the middle of the day.

Commercial Sewer Services FAQ
Who is responsible for the sewer line at my commercial property?
In most villages, the property owner is responsible for the sewer line running from the building to the village's main line. However, this does vary depending on the village, so we will make sure to go over this with you during our initial assessment.
How often should a commercial sewer line be inspected?
We recommend inspecting commercial sewer lines at least once per year.
What is the difference between sewer rodding and hydro jetting?
Sewer rodding uses a cable to cut through clogs and tree roots, and hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to clean the inside of the pipe. Rodding is normally used for clogs and roots, while hydro jetting is normally used for grease and buildup.
Sewage is backing up at my property. What should I do?
Keep everyone away from the area, stop using the sinks and toilets in the building, and give us a call right away. Sewage is a health hazard and needs to be handled by professionals immediately.
